Mireu Martial Arts Wins GOLD at the World Games

You probably all know that we had a team of our students participate in the 2025 Taekwondo Hanmadang World Games, held in Anaheim, CA July 17th - 19th.

The prestigious event brought together the world's top Taekwondo teams and was last hosted in the United States in 2012 making this year's competition a particularly exciting event.

Our team showcased their exceptional skills and unwavering dedication on the global stage. Over the three-day event, the team engaged in various competitions, including poomsae, elite poomsae, creative board breaking, power breaking, and weapons.

Under the guidance of 8th Dan Grandmaster Ms. Lonnie Matthews, our team achieved astounding victories, securing a total of 15 gold medals, in addition to numerous silver and bronze medals. This impressive haul of accolades stands as a testament to the rigorous training, discipline, and commitment instilled at our school. The achievements of our athletes not only bring immense pride to their families and the Coralville community but also hope to inspire future generations of martial artists.

We were also joined by members of the Guardian Institute in Cedar Rapids, which we believe reinforces the strong sense of camaraderie among Iowans in the martial arts community. The whole team had an amazing time raising the Iowa flag together at the Opening Ceremony!

Thanks to Z102.9 Morning Scramble for mentioning the Mireu Martial Arts team in their Feelin' Alright segment.
