Mireu Martial Arts  Taekwondo Program

The Mireu Martial Arts Taekwondo program has written and video content to help you practice and learn outside of class.

TAEKWONDO

Tae means “to kick or smash with the feet”
Kwon refers to “punching or destroying with the hand or fist”

Do means “the way” or “the method.”

WHITE BELT HOME RULES

  1. Children will respect parents and family members at all times.

  2. Children will greet their parents when they enter the house and say goodbye when they leave.

WHITE BELT DOJANG RULES

  1. Bow to the flags upon entering and exiting the dojang.

  2. When entering the dojang bow to your instructor and all senior belts.

CHARYOT [ATTENTION STANCE]

Charyot Stance will be used throughout class to bring students to attention.

CHOON BI [READY STANCE]

Choon Bi Stance will be used throughout class, but mainly to ready yourself before beginning Chon-Ji Form and to ready yourself as the defender in Step Sparring.

ITF WHITE BELT FORM: CHON JI

Chon Ji means literally “Heaven and Earth”, and is in the Orient interpreted as the creation of the world and the beginning of human history. Therefore it is the initial pattern learned by the beginner. Their pattern consists of two parts – one to represent Heaven, the other, the Earth.

LOW BLOCK

Low Block is a hand technique used in Chon-Ji Form and in Step Sparring.

Low Block will be used in conjunction with Front Stance during Chon-Ji and during all three Step Sparrings (as the attacker).

MIDDLE PUNCH

Middle Punch is used in Chon-Ji Form.

Middle Punch will be used in conjunction with Front Stance during Chon-Ji.

High Punch will be used in conjunction with Front Stance during all three Step Sparrings (as the attacker).

FRONT STANCE

Front Stance is a strong stance.

Front Stance will be used in conjunction with Middle Punch during Chon-Ji and High Punch during all three Step Sparrings (as the attacker).

INSIDE TO OUTSIDE BLOCK

Inside to Outside Block will be used in conjunction with Back Stance during Chon-Ji.

Inside to Outside Block wiill be used in all three Step Sparring techniques.

[Note: This block may also be called In to Out Block, Outer Forearm Block or Middle Block]

BACK STANCE

Back Stance will be used in conjunction with Inside to Outside Block during Chon-Ji.
